Absent au concert organisé pour le couronnement de Charles III ce dimanche 7 mai, Ed Sheeran a expliqué ne pas avoir reçu d'invitation.
Among the festivities on the sidelines of the coronation of Charles III this weekend, the huge concert held on Sunday evening near Windsor Castle captured all the attention. More than 20,000 people were in the stands to attend the event including Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and of course the royal family, King Charles III and his wife Camilla, Prince William, accompanied by Kate and her two children, George and Charlotte.
If the event caused a sensation, the programming made people talk. We could see Katy Perry or even Lionel Richie sing, but some regretted the absence of emblematic British artists like Elton John, Adele or Ed Sheeran. The latter also spoke on SiriusXM radio and notably denied the rumors that he would have refused the invitation. "I want to clarify something actually. (...) No one ever asked me. (...) I never refused. I was not invited" he said.
The 32-year-old singer would therefore simply not have received an invitation from Buckingham. It must be said that the programming was the subject of debate. Many pointed to the unavailability of artists like Adèle or Harry Styles, then on tour. Ed Sheeran himself recalled that he was on tour in Dallas on May 6.
