On Tuesday 31 January, Ed Sheeran reappeared on Instagram. With the help of a video, he explained why he chose to take a break from social media.
After "two years" of absence, Ed Sheeran is back on Instagram.
The singer shared a short video on Tuesday 31 January in which he explained the reasons for his disappearance.
Facing the camera, in the open air, with the sound of cicadas in the background, the British artist confided in his 42 million followers:
"I realise that I haven't been as active on my social networks or my online fan base over the last two years".
He also added in a humorous tone: "And the things that have been posted on this account have gotten a little boring. And I'm sorry, that's my fault," before quickly getting serious and announcing that "The reason I'm doing this video is, to be perfectly honest, I've had some turbulent events in my personal life.
Ed Sheeran: a smooth return
To say the least, these upheavals forced Ed Sheeran to cut off communication with his fans.
"I didn't really want to be online and pretend to be something I wasn't when I didn't really feel that way," he revealed.
And I know that sounds weird. Although he has been through a lot, the singer has not given any details of what he has been through.
As he embarks on his US tour in May, the 'Shape of You' singer nevertheless wanted to reassure his fanbase: "I'm making this video to say that things are looking up and I'm back online.
Despite the unspoken words, Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn have had a happy event in recent months.
The couple welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Jupiter. On this occasion, the singer posted a photo of a pair of matching white socks with the caption "I wanted to tell you all that we had another beautiful baby girl.
We are both so in love with her, and very happy to be a family of 4. Good news two years after the arrival of their first daughter Lyra Antartica.
